Profile
I joined the University of Leeds in 2016, teaching on a wide range of General English and English for Academic Purposes courses at the Foundation, Undergraduate, pre-Masters/pre-PhD and Postgraduate levels. Prior to this, I had an extensive career in the public and private education sectors in the UK and aborad, teaching English as a foreign language (Bulgaria); literature and cultural studies (Leeds, Birmingham, Derby, Teesside, Huddersfield); and English for Academic Purposes (Hull, UCLAN, LJMU, Nottingham Trent).
Responsibilities
- Module lead for Language through Literature and Place: Reading Yorkshire (ELU2010 / ELU2011)
- Module lead for Academic Literacies for MA Education
Research interests
In my research and scholarship to date, I have investigated the role of multimodal writing in the representation and construction of diverse identity positions in a range of literary, cultural and pedagogical texts and contexts. More specific to EAP, I am interested in examining the meaning of diversity, inclusion and social justice, the use of multimodal, translingual and plurilingual practices, as well as the role of affect and creativity in the EAP classroom, syllabi / materials, and assessment / feedback.

- Interdisciplinary Discourse Analysis project: Reflective practices in Education.
- The place of linguistic and cultural diversity in teaching.
