Dr Robert Knowles
I currently hold a British Academy post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Leeds. I was awarded my PhD in 2015 from the University of Manchester, after which I spent a year as teaching fellow at the University of Leeds.
I work on issues relating to the applicability of mathematics in science. In particular: what we can conclude about the nature of mathematics from the role it plays in scientific explanation. I also have interest in the epistemology of language, the semantics/pragmatics divide, and the philosophy of religion.
Research projects

Any research projects I'm currently working on will be listed below.
