Jamie Boulding

I joined the School in 2018 as a Research Fellow in Theology and Science as part of the "Science-Engaged Theology" scheme, funded by the John Templeton Foundation and hosted by the University of St Andrews.

I completed BA, MPhil, and PhD degrees in Theology at Cambridge, as well as an MSc degree in Science and Religion at Edinburgh. The focus of my doctoral work at Cambridge was to demonstrate that a participatory account of the relationship between God and creation argues for greater continuity between theology and the multiverse proposal in modern cosmology.

Research interests

As part of the "Science-Engaged Theology" scheme I am interested in exploring the extent to which there might be convincing theological and scientific accounts of human distinctiveness.

More broadly, I am interested in bringing ancient and medieval theological resources into dialogue with contemporary scientific developments, particluarly in cosmology, ecology, and technology.
