Community documentation of biocultural diversity in the eastern Yemeni province of al-Mahrah

This project focuses on the human–environment relationship in eastern Yemen through documenting and analysing nature-related audio and audio-visual texts in Yemeni Mehri.

The project will engage trained documenters from southern Oman in training local Yemeni community members in documentation, ethical research and archiving.

This project will produce an archive of c. 20 hours of audio and audio-visual texts, including c. 2 hours of audio-visual texts to examine the expression of layout, direction and orientation through gesture/speech.
