Peer review workshop

A half-day workshop open to postgraduate researchers in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures.

This workshop will benefit those seeking to improve their academic practice and/or to get involved in editorial peer review. The activities aim to demystify the peer review process and offer hands-on experience for those new to academic publishing.

Panel session

Hear from experienced reviewers/editors/publishers from different disciplines who will share their knowledge and tips relating to peer review. Speakers include:

  • Freya Bailes - University Academic Fellow in Music Psychology
  • Martin Iddon - Professor of Music and Aesthetics
  • Katrin Voltmer - Professor of Communication in Democracy
  • Jamie Stark - Associate Professor of Medical Humanities.

Practical session

A practical session will give you the opportunity to act as a peer reviewer and also to respond to peer review.

For this session, attendees need to bring a printed copy of a short piece of writing (no more than 2,000 words) that ideally can stand alone.

This half-day workshop is open only to PGRs in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures at the University of Leeds. The workshop is free to attend, however you will need to register your attendance online.
