Dr Kate Nash

Profile

I began my career as a media producer at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, specializing in radio and television documentary. My research is focused on the production, circulation and impacts of long form factual media. My PhD Beyond the Frame explored questions of ethics, trust and power in the long term and complex relationships between documentary makers and their participants and I remain very interested in questions of media ethics. I am a leading scholar of interactive documentary, having sought to theorise the ways in which digital media technologies and cultures are shaping (and are shaped by) documentary practices. I am co-editor of Studies in Documentary Film and currently Head of School.
