Dr Gonzalo Iturregui-Gallardo
Gonzalo Iturregui-Gallardo is a Catalan Lecturer at the University of Leeds. He holds a BA in English and French Studies, with minor in German, from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, as well as an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Leicester, UK. In his final-year and masters dissertations, his research focused on dubbing and its phonetic and linguistic aspects. The Catalan Government awarded him an FI scholarship to study a PhD with the TransMedia Catalonia research group from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, within the NEA (New Approaches to Accessibility) project. His thesis centred on the implementation and delivery of audio subtitling for blind and partially-sighted audiences. He has worked as an associate lecturer at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the University of Barcelona (Spain), where he taught English language, phonetics, and grammar, and supervised MA and BA final year projects. He combines his teaching duties with freelance work as a translator, subtitler, and audio describer, mostly in the field of the scenic arts.
