Deadline for Sadler Seminars 2020/21 proposals 20 May 2020

LAHRI is inviting proposals from colleagues in the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures to the Sadler Seminars programme 2020-21.

Background

Sir Michael Sadler (1861-1943) was a Leeds Vice Chancellor famed for his open mind, adventuresome tastes and commitment to research, to the lasting benefit of the University’s art collection and much else. This scheme aims to support colleagues who wish to pursue innovative interdisciplinary research. Sadler Seminars will run for a year, based at the LHRI; they will feature ca. 2-5 seminar meetings per semester; and they will be linked with funding for workshops, project assistants/postdocs (where appropriate), outreach/impact activities and grant-writing support. For the 2020/21 round, we especially encourage applications involving any of the following:

(a) Collaborations beyond the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Cultures;

(b) A significant international dimension; especially where intended collaborations are with one of the following international universities: NTU-Singapore, Auckland University, Sorbonne-Nouvelle University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Northwest University-Xi’an, Queensland University of Technology, Arizona State University; or any top 50 in THE or QS World University Rankings in the Arts and Humanities;

(c) Brotherton Special Collections and/or any on-campus museums and galleries;

(d) External partners whom the applicants have not worked with previously

For anyone interested in submitting a proposal there will be a drop in session on Wednesday 25th March(14:00-16:00. Please email lahr@leeds.ac.uk should you wish to come along to this. queries can also be submitted via email to the same email box.

Thereafter, proposals of no more than 1,000 words should be submitted by Wednesday 20 May 2020 at 5pm.
