I am a Postdoctoral Research and Engagement Fellow. I teach undergraduate modules in the School of English and the School of Languages Cultures and Societies. I am Associate Editor at parallax journal.
My current book project examines the politics of touch in contemporary world literature. Exploring how authors from diverse contexts represent histories of modern violence—including the Holocaust, colonialism and transatlantic slavery—I argue that the texts’ diverse engagements with touch open new possibilities for relationality, as well as challenging prevailing critical assessments of world literature's political potential. Drawing the authors’ approaches to relationality into its methodology, the book argues that an original methodological approach to world literary reading is required. I propose a creative-critical mode of ‘frictional’ reading, which closely attends to the moving, unsettled and potentially uncertain effects of comparing different texts.
I am very interested in how research might be communicated through public exhibitions, events and digital spaces. I have previously worked with organisations including the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), Frames of Representation (FoR) film festival, the Migration Museum and the South African Holocaust and Genocide Centre. I am currently curating an exhibition on feminist protest and the media at the German Historical Institute in London.
Research projects

Any research projects I'm currently working on will be listed below.
