In order to ensure maximum impact of our research and innovation work, we work closely with the media and also lead public engagement activities. 

Recent news stories 

Dr Mark Taylor made an important surprise discovery indicating that microfibre loss in domestic washing may be less than previously thought. (November 2018)

Dr Liz Gaston, Dr Jane Scott and Ian Rees won a University of Leeds Public Engagement prize. Working with the Crafts Council and Leeds Arts University, they developed and delivered a series of engagement activities with schools, effectively disseminating their knit-related research findings. (November 2018)

Dr Mark Sumner presented evidence at the first hearing as part of UK Parliament's inquiry into the sustainability of the fashion industry. (October 2018)

Dr Richard Blackburn’s paper on sustainable dyes using waste, developed with colleagues from the School of Chemistry, has garnered considerable interest world-wide (May2018).
