Profile

I joined the University of Leeds as Lecturer in Communication in 2018 after completing my PhD research in the department of Media and Communication (2018). 

 

Research interests

My reseach explores concepts of voice in relation to political participation and engagement, particularly focusing on the voice of young people and young women.

I am also interested in crossovers between political communciation and performance studies, convening the Political Performance reading group. I am a theatre practitioner who specialises in community and applied work, particularly looking at the political efficacy of ensemble and community performance. I am a Co-Editor of the Theatre Dance and Performance Training Blog where I am collating research that explores the relationship between performance training, community and citizenship.
